Primary Security Council

The Security Council is the part of the United Nations responsible for keeping international peace and security. It can call for ceasefires, send peacekeepers and agree on action when a conflict breaks out.

In this committee, delegates look at what happens to ordinary people when fighting reaches their towns. Hospitals, doctors and nurses, and the pipes and pumps that bring clean water are meant to be protected — but in real conflicts they are often damaged or targeted. Delegates will work out how the world can respond quickly in an emergency and how these protections can be made to work in practice.
